NDOR - I80 Kiosk install

  • Construction started in July of 2014 with Sadler Electric as the Prime Contractor for the Nebraska Department of Roads (NDOR).

  • Major work included the installation of (12) informational kiosk in the rest areas on I80 between the Iowa border on the east going to the Colorado border on the west of Nebraska. Each kiosk display consisted of a 50-inch LED TV mounted in custom 4” deep painted enclosure with a 3/8” tempered glass face to prevent theft or vandals. There’s also a security camera mounted inside for security purposes. The core of the system is a state of the art, custom AAEON industrial PC running software developed by Olsson and Associates in Lincoln, NE. Communication between each of the rest areas and the DOC for NDOR is accomplished by cell modems and routers in order to update the kiosk with all of the relevant Real-time data on the displays. Also mounted above the Kiosks are Daktronics LED message boards for emergency notifications and ABMER alerts.

  • Each of the kiosk displays the following information: AMBER Alert Information from Nebraska State Patrol, Real-Time Weather Radar from National Weather Service, Real-Time Weather Forecasts from National Weather Service, Current Road Condition and Road Closure Information from NDOR ATIS web site QR Code that directs to NDOR’s Traveler Information Site, and Local Tourism Information from Nebraska Tourism Commission
